Aims and Objectives

  • To unite all Ukrainian women and promote their national identity, their spirit and cultural development, and the dignity of women as mothers and members of the Ukrainian community.

  • To organise Ukrainian women and women of other nationalities married to Ukrainians in Great Britain into branches of the association and to encourage them to participate in all aspects of social, community and national educational life.

  • To foster awareness of Ukrainian identity amongst Ukrainian children and to help the association of Ukrainians to organise nursery classes and Saturday schools in Ukrainian communities

  • To organise cultural and educational activities amongst Ukrainian women, including, occasions for women to meet, conferences, reading courses, exhibitions, etc.

  • To give moral, practical and material support to members of the association, members of the community generally and to all Ukrainians who need such support.

  • To maintain contact with similar Ukrainian and non-Ukrainian organisations, particularly British women’s organisations.

  • To inform non-Ukrainians about the life and activities of Ukrainian women and the whole Ukrainian community both in Ukraine and in other countries

  • To inform Ukrainian women about the activities of other Ukrainian women’s organisations throughout the world.

  • To publish literature as necessary and to encourage Ukrainian women to support Ukrainian publications, particularly those published by or for women.

  • To encourage active participation in Ukrainian community life of non-Ukrainian women married to Ukrainians who are interested in Ukrainian affairs and the work of the association, and to help strengthen the Ukrainian identity, within mixed marriages

  • To co-ordinate activities and work with other communities and educational organisations, particularly those affiliated to the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain

  • To work with women’s organisations in Ukraine and in the eastern and western diaspora.

  • As far as practicable to give moral and material support to those who need it in Ukraine and other Eastern European countries.
